Booking Policies

Glad you’re thinking about bringing your crew to Hengchun. Please take a few minutes to read the policies below before you confirm — it keeps both sides clear and the rest of the conversation simple.

The two houses (The Light House and Nandou Light) are run by Chen Jie. The rules below apply to both.


1. Booking Process

We work on a deposit-first basis — your dates aren’t held until the deposit clears.

  1. Reach Chen Jie on Line 93275760 or by phone +886 932 757 600 to confirm availability, headcount, and total rate
  2. Once you’ve decided, Chen Jie will share the deposit amount and bank details
  3. Send the last five digits of your transfer reference (or a screenshot) to Chen Jie
  4. Booking is confirmed once Chen Jie has matched the transfer to your reservation

The deposit is typically 30 % of the total rate; long weekends and Chinese New Year may be higher.


2. Cancellation

Plans change — we get it. Message Chen Jie on Line as early as you can. Refunds follow this schedule:

Once a booking is confirmed, the room type or date can be changed once. Please decide with care before reaching out.


3. Typhoon & Force Majeure

If the Pingtung County government suspends work and school (typhoon or major weather event) on your check-in day, you may choose either:

  • A full refund of the deposit, or
  • Hold the deposit for up to 6 months and rebook on a date that suits you

Please contact Chen Jie on Line to log the change, so both sides have a record.


4. Check-in & Check-out

  • Check-in: 3:00 PM onwards
  • Check-out: 11:00 AM

If you arrive in Hengchun early, drop your bags, hit the old street, get a shaved ice — Chen Jie will message you on Line as soon as the rooms are ready.

If you’ll be arriving after 6:00 PM, please let Chen Jie know in advance. If you’re more than two hours past your stated arrival time and unreachable, we have to release the rooms — this counts as a same-day no-show.


5. Headcount

We enforce headcount strictly so every group gets a comfortable, safe stay.

  • Please bring exactly the number of guests you booked for — infants and toddlers count too
  • If your headcount changes, tell Chen Jie in advance; extra guests are NT$500 per person when space allows
  • If you arrive with more guests than booked and didn’t inform us, Chen Jie reserves the right to refuse entry — treated as a same-day cancellation, deposit non-refundable

6. Pets

We’re sorry — neither house accepts pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, anything).

The reasons: some guests have allergies, and we need to protect bedding and furniture. Bringing an undeclared pet means you’ll be liable for any resulting damage.


7. Breakfast

We don’t serve breakfast. Hengchun has plenty of brunch spots worth waking up for — Chen Jie is happy to recommend favourites.


8. Indoor Smoking

Per Taiwan’s Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act, smoking (including e-cigarettes) is prohibited indoors.

Please use the outdoor balconies or courtyard with the provided ashtrays. A NT$10,000 fine applies for indoor smoking, reported to the Pingtung County government.


9. Other House Rules

  • Quiet hours: keep outdoor noise down after 10:00 PM out of courtesy to neighbours; karaoke indoors is fine
  • Splash pool: children must be supervised by an adult at all times
  • Kitchen: please tidy up after use and wash your dishes; deep cleaning is on us
  • BBQ area: charcoal and grilling tools — Line Chen Jie ahead to reserve

10. Chen Jie’s Hours

  • Booking & enquiries: 08:00 – 20:00 daily
  • For non-urgent matters, please use Line during these hours
  • Outside these hours, Chen Jie will reply the next day unless it’s a safety emergency
